What is Feta Cheese?
Feta will be white in color with a firm and crumbly texture. It has a salty and pleasant flavor that is tangy but not bitter. Feta is the perfect addition to salads, pastas, and many other of your favorite foods.

Is Feta cheese made using pasteurized milk?
Yes, all of Klondike Cheeses are made with pasteurized milk in accordance with state and Federal regulations.

What is the shelf life of Feta Cheese?
An unopened package of Feta Cheese has a shelf life of 180 days. Once a package is opened there is a 7 to 10 day shelf life depending on if it is stored in a closed container at refrigerated temperatures. It also varies on how well the package is resealed and what other items are stored next to the cheese in the refrigerator.

What is the recommended temperature for storage?
For the best shelf life of the cheese it should be stored at 33 to 40 degrees F. Feta cheese can be put in a freezer, but is not recommended. Freezing and thawing may change the characteristics of the cheese.

How do you cook with Feta?
Odyssey Feta Cheese softens when heated. It retains some texture and does not fully melt. Therefore it is great for casseroles, stuffing and toppings (salads and pizza). Feta works in almost any dish from breakfast eggs and fritters to soups, appetizers, main dishes, and of course deserts. Please see our recipe tab for more detailed information.

Is it safe for pregnant women eat Feta cheese?
Yes, in the past, doctors did not recommend eating raw or unpasteurized cheeses. Since Feta was mainly imported, it fell into that category. Currently all of Odyssey Feta cheese is pasteurized so it is just as safe as any other pasteurized cheese.

Is Feta Cheese a healthy choice?
